As a result of growing security concerns and the removal of security officers from the Hawaii State Hospital, requires the Department of Public Safety (PSD) to provide security to the Hospital and calls upon PSD and the Department of Health to come up with short and long term plans to address the needs of Hawaii’s growing and aging forensic population: SB2919, Relating to the Hawaii State Hospital (Enrolled to Governor, 2010) Repealed the sunset of the Kaneohe Bay Regional Council allowing the group to continue to respond to the concerns of Windward residents through annual meetings: SB2340, Relating to Kaneohe Bay Regional Council. As a result of student concerns over the appointment of the Board of Regents Student Member, created a Student Advisory Group to the Regents Candidate Advisory Committee (RCAC) & amended the appointment process to the RCAC to ensure greater student participation: SB2803, Relating to the Regents Candidate Advisory Council. Repealed the sunset provision, thus allowing the University of Hawaii to continue their commercial enterprises revolving fund, which will enable them to diversify their funding base: SB2389, Relating to the University of Hawaii. Broadens the practical experience requirements for a pharmacist license to include experience obtained in U.S. territories & the District of Columbia: SB2390, Relating to Pharmacist Licensure. 2009 Increasing the workforce development capacity of the community colleges by establishing a Skilled Worker and Business Development Center focused on meeting the rapidly changing needs of employers, employees & job seekers. Authorized federal Reed Act Funds: SB1665, Relating to Higher Education (Veto Overridden, 2009) Based on recommendations made by the Bureau of Conveyances Investigative Committee (BOC), transferring time share interests from land court to the regular system; provides the BOC with the ability to automate recordings: SB1352, Relating to Bureau of Conveyances. Increased the revenue bond authority of the University of Hawaii by $100M and extended the sunset to allow the University to move forward on important capital improvement projects which would greatly benefit students, faculty & pump construction jobs into the economy: SB1674, Relating to the University of Hawaii.
